What is your reaction upon hearing the news that Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown?  What kind of government do you hope will be set up and what role do you want to play in your new country?  Today in History  1775 – George III speaks to Parliament about the  American rebellion and bringing the colonies under the firm control of Britain. 1858 – Theodore Roosevelt is born in NYC.   War in the South Cornwallis decided to march north to  Virginia, destroying Patriot supplies and hanging leaders along the way. On August 1, 1781 he set up his headquarters at Yorktown, a small tobacco port on the York River.
